The Specialist Falls Team is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists a Podiatrist and Assistant Practitioner Staff.
This is a Community Adult Service providing assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to patients who have fallen or who are at risk of falling. Their work consists of environmental assessment, provision of equipment to maintain independence and safety in mobility and daily living skills, gait and balance work and advice on footwear and foot care.
The service is provided within the home environment or by attendance at Boaler Street Day Centre for a six week Falls Preventation Programme depending on the patient's need.
The aim of the service is to reduce the risk of the patient falling and encourage or maintain independence in mobility and daily living activities by using a variety of interventions which may include exercise, provision of equipment, modification to the home environment and advice on foot care problems or the supply of Orthotics.
